Welcome to the Counselor's Corner.  Your school counselor is Mr. Curt Genereux

Jr/Sr High counseling is intended to enhance and support all students in academics, personal and social development, and post-secondary and career planning.

Each student is helped to develop an individual four-year high school plan detailing  course choices, post-secondary plans and career plans.  These plans are updated at the beginning of the year and again at enrollment time.

The counselor is responsible for assisting students in class scheduling, maintaining transcripts and the coordination of school-wide testing such as Kansas State Assessments , PSAT and the PLAN Assessments.

The counselor also schedules representative visits, by post-secondary schools and military branches; all interested juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend.

Seniors also  are allowed two college campus visit days.  This is an excellent way for parents and students to get a feel for a campus.  By planning ahead it is often possible to visit more than one post-secondary school during a day.  These visits are coordinated through the counseling office. Please plan at least two weeks ahead for your visit.

The counseling office has many resources including PSAT and ACT preparation books to checkout, information on most Kansas post-secondary schools, and events sponsored throughout the year by colleges for prospective students,

Parents may contact the school counselor at the  the high school by calling (785) 428-3233 or email cgenereux.usd279@usd279.org  Students may request help or visit with the counselor at anytime by coming to the counseling office.  An administrator, teacher or parent may also refer students to the counselor.
